Cthulhu are “sea monsters”. If memory serves me correctly, one attacked New York in the movie “Cloverfield”.

I thought it was an alien in “Cloverfield” but a Lovecraftian monster works as well. I think that the main enemy monster at the end of “Hellboy 1″ is based off of Lovecraft’s Old Ones. This song made me giggle, especially since I’ve read a lot of Lovecraft stories.
