“When horror finally made a cameo appearance at the end of the film, riding in on a blissful wave of weird, rubbery make-ups, it was like someone jammed a handful of smelling salts up my nose. Sort of like Ti Wests House of the Devil, I desperately wanted to see where Salvage was going, even if the journey came with too many mandatory rest stops.” Score: 6 / 10
“While the screenplay could have used a little more character development and breathing room, it appears that Eisner was intentionally aiming at our young MTV-addicted generation. The pacing works well for those with short attention spans (thats me!) as its energetic, fast-paced and quite engaging.” Score: 7 / 10
“In the end, Jesse Holland and Andy Mitton have in fact created something special. They honed in on their filmmaking skills and have delivered a solid genre film that is sure to be quite popular among horror fans. Even with the final product being well-polished, there are still plenty of scares and chills to go around.” Score: 7 / 10
“Shutter Island might not ever be considered classic Scorsese but it’s a damn fine example of a master hard at work. Its a fantastic homage to Val Lewton B-movies and an experience thats worth having a second time at the least. If you can appreciate the nightmarish, gothic charms of the classic horror films of yesteryear, you will no doubt be entranced by the mystery surrounding Shutter Island and its inhabitants.” Score: 8 / 10
“White Zombie is a film that helps show where films such as Night of the Living Dead and Zombie have gotten their inspiration. The slow fading technique (which was the style at the time) is done well, but has been done better by its contemporaries. Nevertheless, this gem is a film that deserves more attention than it gets.” Score: 8 / 10
“While The Wolfman has some really proud moments, ultimately it feels like a Franken-film. It’s fractured mostly at the core with horrid character development and illogical situations. In short, when the Wolf Man wasn’t ripping off people’s heads — it was unbearably boring.” Score: 5 / 10
“Horror fans that enjoy a slasher purely based on the kill factor, this one tops most as its well shot, edited and packaged. Its a top-notch production thats burdened by a weak screenplay. Pop it in, talk with some friends, and watch the mayhem unfold in the background. Its the only way to watch it.” Score: 5 / 10
“The way I see it, Presidents Day is a quantum leap forward for a fledgling filmmaker who has proven over the last 4-years that hes more than capable making quality films for less. Now, if he could just get a little bit more money for his next feature, maybe he can solve the FX issues and, perhaps, even buy back some of those precious VHS tapes he sold off.” Score: 8 / 10
“And for the price of a rental, it provides 90 minutes of mildly enjoyable, low grade entertainment.” Score: 4 / 10
“Yes, theres some blood, some boobs, some tame lesbian action, but all of that exploitation goodness is buried under a dung pile of atrocious dialogue and inane plotting, particularly during the irritatingly talky final 30 minutes.” Score: 2 / 10
